These terms govern your use of the Kord desktop application, the joinkord.com website, and the Kord account service (together, "Kord"). By creating a Kord account or using the app, you agree to them.
What Kord is
Kord is a local-first workspace that runs on your computer and orchestrates AI coding tools and model providers that you install, sign into, and pay for yourself. Kord sells a software subscription only: it never resells model capacity, and it adds no per-use fees. All AI usage is billed by your own provider accounts at their prices.
Your provider accounts are yours — and governed by their terms
- Your use of ChatGPT/Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Google Gemini, NVIDIA NIM, OpenRouter, or any other provider through Kord is governed by that provider's own terms of service, and you are responsible for complying with them — including their rules on usage limits, number of accounts, and permitted clients.
- Kord launches each provider's official software with your own login and does not access, store, or transmit your provider credentials.
- Providers may change their terms, limits, or technical behaviour at any time. Kord cannot guarantee that any particular provider integration will continue to work, and such changes are outside our control.
No affiliation
Kord is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor (Anysphere), Google, NVIDIA, or OpenRouter. All product names, marks, and logos referenced are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the products Kord can work with.
Accounts, trial, and plans
- One Kord account per person, identified by email. Keep access to your email secure; sign-in codes sent to it act as your password.
- New accounts start a 14-day full-featured trial, once per person. No payment method is required for the trial.
- After the trial (or a lapsed subscription) your account moves to the Free plan: core chat on one provider keeps working and nothing you created is deleted. Paid capabilities lock until you subscribe.
- Paid plans (such as Kord Plus, Kord Pro, and Founding Member) unlock the capabilities described at purchase time. Prices are shown in the app and may change for new purchases; an active subscription's price does not change mid-term, and the Founding Member price is locked for as long as that subscription stays active.
- A plan covers a limited number of devices (currently 2) signed into the same account.
Billing and refunds
When checkout opens, payments will be handled by a merchant of record, whose checkout terms apply to the transaction, including VAT/sales tax and refund processing. Unless a longer period is required by your local consumer law, subscriptions can be cancelled any time and remain active until the end of the paid period. Nothing in these terms limits statutory consumer rights.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Kord app for as long as your account is in good standing. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or reverse engineer the app except where the law expressly permits. Open-source components included with the app are licensed under their own terms.
Acceptable use
Do not use Kord to break the law, to infringe others' rights, to circumvent providers' technical or contractual limits, or to probe, disrupt, or abuse the Kord account service.
Local software and your data
Kord runs agents and build tools on your machine at your direction. You are responsible for the projects you point it at and for reviewing changes it makes. Kord's servers never receive your code or conversations (see the Privacy Policy).
Disclaimers and liability
Kord is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data caused by third-party tools, or provider-side decisions such as account suspensions or limit changes. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Kord in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Termination
You can stop using Kord and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these terms; if we terminate without such a breach, we will refund the unused part of any paid period.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date above will change, and material changes will be announced to account holders by email before they apply.
